Concept Note Submission Process
(The deadline for concept note submission is January 8, 2010)
Concept note submission will be done online. It is very important to follow the process closely. Only concept notes submitted using the appropriate process will be considered.
STEP ONE:
Carefully read over the background information available on this website, particularly sections on eligibility criteria, background and context and objectives and research themes. If you have questions about the project, use the question form on the homepage to address them to the Centre for Media and Transitional Societies.
STEP TWO:
You will submit your concept note online, using a special template that will be provided to you in Step Three. But before you go to that step and obtain the online template, you should spend some time producing the content that you will later cut and paste into the concept note submission template. It is highly recommended that you prepare your material offline, using a word processing program, and then cut and paste it into the appropriate sections of the submission template. The template, which you will obtain electronically in Step Three, will ask you to provide information about yourself. It will also ask you to respond to the following questions in so many words:
Describe yourself: (Who are you are and why are you well placed to conduct this research. Describe some of your previous research work or publications. ) 250 words -
Brief description of the proposed research (What is the major focus of the research? Give the background, rationale and justification for the research. What are your major research questions or hypothesis?) MAXIMUM 500 WORDS
Methodology (specify the steps in your proposed project. How will you carry out the research? Link the methodology to your proposed budget and note how your project would address gender as a cross-cutting theme) 250 words
Anticipated outcomes and benefits: (How will your research contribute to our knowledge of Radio, Convergence and Development in Africa? What outcomes do you expect from your research and how would you measure them?) 250 words
Duration of research (Tentative period for completion of research- Timeline):
Partner organizations ( Any organizations that are/ will be potentially willing to be associated as part of the project )
Budget range: (which category of research grant would you like to be considered for?)
STEP THREE:
Click the APPLY NOW link at the end of this step and follow the instructions. It will lead you to a direct link to the online application template. You must use this template for your note to be received properly in our database. Using the material that you have already prepared offline, fill in the question boxes in the template. When you are finished filling in the template, simply hit the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the message.
You will receive a notice confirming receipt of your concept note.
NEXT STEPS:
